Duties
NIST's Quantum Sensors Division has a mission to provide the metrological foundation for emerging electronic, magnetic, and photonic technologies by developing high-precision measurement devices, systems, standards, and methodologies and applying them to address national needs. If you are hired as an Administrative Office Assistant (OA) for this division, you will:
Provide clerical and administrative support to the office
Process travel authorizations and vouchers; prepare documentation for guest researchers' appointments/renewals; assist with the in-processing of new employees and associates including arranging for office space, phones, and computer accounts prior to arrival; prepare for and execute out-processing actions prior to the departure of exiting employees and associates; manage time and attendance; purchase equipment, supplies, and services; serve as a bankcard holder; prepare training requests and document completed training in the Commerce Learning Center database; schedule meetings; register visitors; manage files, including archiving records according to published records schedules; and serve as the principal office contact for phone calls and visitors
Prepare documents, reports, and correspondence requiring typing at least 40 WPM and experience using a variety of office automation software, such as spreadsheet and word processing software
Serve as an expert in all areas of this position and train all new administrative support positions with minimal supervision and support.

Qualifications
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level (ZS-III) in the federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience applying Federal regulations & procedures.
Experience handling acquisitions, travel, property, security, IT system accounts, time & attendance, and leave administration.
Experience with and independent operation of purchase card systems, high dollar equipment purchases, travel authorizations and vouchers, onboarding and security for foreign and domestic associates working in a federal facility, time and attendance systems, and the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
Experience scheduling office activities, such as meetings and conferences with internal and external participants.
Experience developing and presenting training on various administrative subjects to staff.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
