Joining the Secret Service, Office of the Chief Information Officer, IT Software Solutions Program will allow you to secure, develop, implement, and sustain information technology to support the U.S. Secret Service enterprise and its Protective and Investigative missions. This IT Cybersecurity Specialist (DEV/DTA) position starts at a salary of $117,962.00 (GS-13, step 1), with potential to $153,354.00, GS-13, step 10.
Duties
The selectee will serve as IT Cybersecurity Specialist (DEV/DTA) in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Software Solutions Program. Typical work assignments include:
Writing/coding new computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs following software assurance best practices.
Developing and administering databases and/or data management systems that allow for the storage, query, protection and utilization of data.
Analyzing information to determine, recommend, and plan the development of a new application or modification of an existing application.
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below
Basic Requirement: Possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
A. Attention to Detail: Modifying and/or maintaining existing software to improve performance;
B.Customer Service: Developing software according to secure software development methodologies, tools, and/or practices to meet customer needs;
C. Oral Communication: Presenting technical information to technical and nontechnical audiences; and
D. Problem Solving: Analyzing data sources to provide actionable recommendations.
AND
Specialized Experience
You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $117,962.00) if you possess one of the following:
GS-13: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Applying cybersecurity functions (e.g. encryption, access control, vulnerability remediation and identity management) to reduce exploitation opportunities;
Conducting trial runs or tests of programs and software applications (using Microsoft SharePoint, ESRI ArcGIS, or other development platforms) to ensure the desired information is produced and security levels are correct; and
Implementing data management standards in support of databases and data management systems.
