This position is in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave., NW., Washington, DC, in the Office of Security, International Security Programs Division (SEC/ISP), at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Duties
Services as a technical authority in assignments requiring the application of new theories and developments to physical security problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted security methods, technology, or procedures.
Develops, coordinates, and implements security policies for programs requiring the application of new theories and developments to physical security problems, i.e., concerning the protection of facilities, personnel, emergency communications, etc.
Processes, approves, or denies ID card requests and issues ID cards.
Assists with the formulation and preparation of Agency-wide policy in the form of directives and manuals concerning physical security programs.
Ensures that physical security standards applied at all agency sensitive facilities are both adequate and in conformance with the national-level policy/standards which apply.
Evaluates and makes recommendations concerning overall plans and proposals for major agency and interagency security projects.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- You may be required to serve a one-year trial period if selected.

- These are Testing Designated Positions (TDP's) under the Agency's approved Drug-Free Work Place Program. All applicants selected for this position will be subject to random drug testing once they begin working for the Agency.

Specialized Experience:
GS-13: You need at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience refers to full-time work, while part-time roles are considered on a prorated basis. Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position includes: a) Implementing or coordinating security policies and programs concerning the protection of facilities, personnel, emergency communication, etc.; b) Ensuring physical security standards applied at all agency sensitive facilities are both adequate and in conformance with the national-level policy/standards which apply; c) Processing, approving, or denying identification (ID) card requests; AND d) Issuing ID cards to staff members of an agency or organization.
Please note that qualifying specialized work experience may have been gained through a variety of activities, including residence, study, teaching, business or commercial activities, military service, newspaper work, military or civil government activities, missionary or international relief work, or other foreign work experience.
