This position is located in Imaging Service at the Marion VA Health Care System. The incumbent will lead a team of diagnostic radiologic technologists and medical instrument technologists at the G-09 level and below as well as perform a full spectrum of both ultrasound and general diagnostic radiology procedures.

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Certification. All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R). Education. Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from [other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE). English Language Proficiency. DRTs must be proficient in spoken/written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). Grade Determinations: Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist Ultrasound (GS-10) The incumbent will lead a team of diagnostic radiologic technologists and medical instrument technologists at the G-09 level and below as well as perform a full spectrum of both ultrasound and general diagnostic radiology procedures. The Lead Diagnostic Radiology Technologist Ultrasound will independently operate as a DRT in the performance of diagnostic imaging studies so the proper diagnosis and treatment may be effectuated. The technologist will assist the Imaging Supervisor to plan, develop, and direct the diagnostic ultrasound section and may act as a backup to the Lead Diagnostic Radiology Technologist, General Radiology, or other modality leads when needed. The technologist is accountable to the next higher-level supervisor. The candidate MUST demonstrate all of the following technical KSAs: Ability to provide feedback to supervisor on technical aspects of work. Ability to resolve informal employee complaints. Ability to monitor and report on the status and progress of work and make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established procedures. Ability to perform general and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures in advanced levels of complex treatment situations. Preferred Experience: ARDMS certification preferred. References: VA Handbook 5005/119, Part II, Appendix G25, Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, GS-0647, dated December 13, 2019. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-10. The actual grade at which an applicant will be selected for this vacancy is GS-10. Physical Requirements: The requirements of this position include light, moderate and heavy lifting, light, moderate and heavy carrying, straight pulling, use of fingers, both hands required, walking, standing, repeated bending, climbing (use of legs and arms), ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, far correctable vision in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, ability to distinguish basic colors, ability to distinguish shades of colors, hearing aid permitted.
