The position will serve as a Lead DRT/CT/MR Technologist for a group of DRTs at the GS10 level and below. The incumbent will serve as the Lead across several modalities and perform a full range of general to complex radiologic treatment procedures in the areas of MR, CT and x-ray The Lead is responsible for direct oversight, quality assurance/control, workflow coordination, training and technical operation in the advanced MRI modality at the main facility and satellite facilities.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, work schedule may include weekends and Federal holidays, at the discretion of management. Additional tours of duty may be required to support the operational needs of a 24-hour facility.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Certification. All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R).
Advanced Certification. Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments that include computed tomography (CT).

Education. Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from [other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE).
English Language Proficiency. DRTs must be proficient in spoken/written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).
Grade Determinations: Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (GS-11)
The position functions as a lead technologist for a group of DRTs at the GS-10 grade level and below. The technologist performs a full range of general radiologic treatment procedures and possesses broad knowledge of the different modalities within the diagnostic radiologic area. The technologist is accountable to the next higher-level supervisor. The candidate MUST demonstrate all of the following technical KSAs:
Skill in directing on-the-job training for employees.
Ability to evaluate work performance of lower level employees and recommend performance ratings.
Skill in technical planning and oversight to set and adjust work priorities, and [ensure] that work requirements are met based on employee capabilities.
Ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including knowledge of growth and development.
Knowledge of medical center, VHA, and government-wide human resources management
regulations, policies, and procedures.
Preferred Experience:
Experience as a Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRS).
Experience as a Lead Magnetic Resonance (MR) Technologist and/or experience in performing quality assurance review of MR exams for proper technique, protocol, and quality image factors.
Familiarity with radiology report coding

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-11. The actual grade at which an applicant will be selected for this vacancy is GS-11.
Physical Requirements: The requirements of this position include light, moderate and heavy lifting, light, moderate and heavy carrying, straight pulling, use of fingers, both hands required, walking, standing, repeated bending, climbing (use of legs and arms), ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, far correctable vision in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, ability to distinguish basic colors, ability to distinguish shades of colors, hearing aid permitted.
