About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is a unique and beautiful area. Located in Northern New York, Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties

Serves as working leader performing mechanical duties in area of Electronic Industrial Controls. Applies a thorough knowledge and understanding of electronic, mechanical techniques to logically analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex systems. Utilizes, repairs, inspects and calibrates electronic instruments and position measuring equipment. Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, modification and rebuilding of electronic and electrical controlling elements. Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment. Provides guidance to employees regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders).

Occasionally, climbing and working in high places may be required. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is primarily performed inside in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. May work in drafty attic spaces and cramped areas with low overhead or sudden temperature changes when maintaining or troubleshooting field devices or during field surveys. Safety glasses, safety shoes, and ear plugs are issued or are available. Additional specialized safety equipment is provided as required.
