About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties

Maintain the integrity of the Energy Monitoring and Control System (EMCS) for monitoring and controlling HVAC and energy systems in a variety of facilities. Perform site surveys of facilities and make recommendations for developing scopes of work for bringing system on-line. Troubleshoot Energy Monitoring and Control System using one line drawings, blueprints, manufacturers specifications, trade manuals, and utilizing test equipment to locate source of problem. Perform scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on various field devices such as tightening contacts and connections and replacing fuses, resistors, and analog boards as needed. Utilize appropriate interactive commands to neutralize problems, alarms, or to adjust conditions pinpointed by the computer. Input facility schematics of system locations which provide a graphic representation for identifying a problem source using manufacturer special purpose source programs, guides, and codes.

• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

• Incumbent is subject to call back in the event of an emergency.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 80 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

May work in drafty attic spaces and cramped areas with low overhead or sudden temperature changes when maintaining or troubleshooting field devices or during field surveys.
