You will serve as a Materials Handler in the Ordnance Handling Branch, Ordnance Operations Division of NMC CWD DET NORTH ISLAND.

Duties

You will inspect, inventory, segregate, and stow material in accordance with current instructions. You will work with the Logistics Support Team in reconciling discrepancies in inventory. You will adhere to all environmental instructions as directed by supervisor/leader and promptly report potential non-compliance and assist in taking corrective action. You will inspect Materials Handling Equipment and Ordinance Handling Equipment for required safety standards prior to use. You will safely operate mechanized equipment including utility vehicles, standard size forklifts, mobile stock selectors and Electromechanical automated equipment. You will independently load and unload materials, check, assemble, and process documents and route materials and equipment to correct location using warehouse plans and procedures. You will ensure that all program control procedures are followed when working with hazardous materials such as paint and industrial solvents of a toxic nature. You will ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets are available in the work area for reference by the worker.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Ordnance Materials Handlers certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Explosive Operator Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Explosive Operator Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO) certification.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position requires that ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • This position requires that you have visual acuity and accurate color discrimination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
