You will serve as a Materials Handler of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.
Duties
You will perform the full range of material handling and warehousing functions.
You will ship, receive, store, segregate, and inventory controlled (hazardous and non-hazardous) materials.
You will read and interpret shipping documents and other documentation used to move, store, and track materials.
You will operate motor vehicles, forklifts, and other Material Handling Equipment.
You will work with automated supply and/or inventory systems.
You will pick and prepare materials for local issue or shipment.
You will follow safety protocols and guidelines in a warehouse environment.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position requires occasional travel.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to successfully complete specialized training to manage HAZWASTE accumulation area.

I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including the ability to perform the work of a Materials Handler as demonstrated by experience receiving, issuing, handling, selecting and preparing for shipment, segregating, storing, stowing, inventorying, and documenting the movement and storage of supplies, equipment, and hazardous materials (HAZMAT), in accordance with prescribed regulations; performing inspections of incoming shipments to check for damage; documenting discrepancies; identifying material as hazardous waste (HAZWASTE) based upon shelf-life expiration, container degradation, and spillage; reading shipping and tracking documents; using computer systems such as Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP) and scanning devices to track material; performing the consolidation, rotation, or relocation of stored items, as directed; complying with prescribed proper handling and storage procedures; assisting in laying out storage space and establish item and material locations providing for maximum space utilization; performing the rotation, or relocation of stored items, as directed; operating motor vehicles, forklifts and material handling equipment. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
