About the Position: Serve as a Engineering Technician for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, VA Division in Canandaigua, New York.
Duties
Prepare cost estimate alternatives to recommend changes in construction design, to reduce cost and/or prevent the potential for contractor
claims.
Prepare complex construction cost estimates, with detailed equipment, labor, and materials cost breakdown for all phases of the construction
project to obtain program approval and funding for project resources.
Research current economic trends and patterns in construction cost estimating to adapt or refine guidelines in resolving complex issues affecting
the quality, scheduling, budgeting, or progress of work performed in completing projects.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience as a Cost Estimator or Negotiator preparing estimates for Military and Civil Works projects; negotiating construction contract modifications, and preparing contract modification packages for approval of the Contracting Officer,

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
