You will serve as a STAFF ASSISTANT in the OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF THE NAVY (ENERGY, INSTALLATIONS AND ENVIRONMENT) of ASN EI-E WASHINGTON DC.
Duties
You will ensure that guest speakers are invited sufficiently in advance and that all protocol requirements are adhered to, and when necessary, settle accounts with restaurants, clubs and caterers.
You will receive incoming mail, determine what items can be personally handled, and forward the rest with notations to the appropriate office for handling, following up as necessary.
You will make arrangements for the ASN's travel, including coordinating with Navy and Marine Corps protocol offices, coordinating foreign travel plans, completing all voucher paperwork, and accounting for items received from foreign dignitaries.
You will undertake special assignments which require fact-finding research and investigation to develop information, policy, positions, or action plans and alternatives for the solution of controversial problems of immediate concern.
You will assist the ASN (Assistant Secretary of the Navy) in preparing for public speaking engagements and Congressional testimony.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience maintaining activity calendars and personal calendars;
Experience ensuring all social obligations are met (i.e. arranging luncheons, issuing invitations and ensuring proper seating arrangements); AND
Experience greeting visitors and receiving and placing telephone calls.
