About the Position: This position is located at Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Cavazos, TX.

Duties

Set up and replenish food service and steam tables with hot and cold food. Decide what food items to serve for the most common diets when the diet card identifies only the kind of diet called for, such as liquid diet or diabetic diet. Assist cooks in the food preparation area by weighing, measuring, and assembling ingredients according to standardized recipes. Disassemble, clean and reassemble dishwashing machine after use. Make a variety of fruit and vegetable salads, cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients and pack box lunches (grab-n-go items). Clean kitchen equipment, dining, and storage areas, office, hallways and latrines.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
• This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).

I have the ability to perform common procedures such as wrap, and sell food items by way of food carts, inventory items, and resupply items during sales. Performs routine work such as scouring, scrubbing, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, mopping, pushing heavy carts, unloading trucks, storing/stocking and delivering supplies throughout the worksite. Work may also require work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment. Working Conditions: Work is performed predominantly in kitchen and dining areas. Areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. Incumbent is subject to injuries from equipment used and slippery floors; exposed to dirt, grease, and water in cleaning tasks. Incumbent is subject to extremes in temperature of hot kitchens and walk-in refrigerators. Personal protective equipment must be worn during all periods of time incumbent is exposed to hazardous conditions.
