About the Position: Serves as the Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Security Specialist for the Security Department, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (USACID) and is responsible for executing protection programs within the agency.

Duties

Receive, develop, and disseminate threat related information and provide technical advice, planning, and support for the Emergency Preparedness and COOP Plan. Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring of the Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) program, policies, and procedures in order to protect personnel, facilities, and assets. Conduct Operations Security (OPSEC) reviews as well as assisting with oversight, surveys, and inspections of subordinate elements to determine and identify vulnerabilities, selecting appropriate countermeasures to neutralize potential compromises. Develop, review, and coordinate policies and guidance on physical security and crime prevention to include procedures to prevent the theft of high value and easily stolen property and manages access control.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the employee to obtain Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within two years of employment.
  • Must sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position requires access to classified information. Incumbent of the position will be required to complete a Standard Form (SF) 312, Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA).

For the GS-11 level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: assist with the management, oversight, and execution of Protection Programs and provide assistance with security programs including Antiterrorism (AT), Emergency Management (EM), Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planning, Operations Security (OPSEC), Mission Assurance (MA), and Physical Security. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. For the GS-12 level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Execute protection programs within the command and implement and maintain security programs including Antiterrorism (AT), Emergency Management (EM), Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planning, Operations Security (OPSEC), Mission Assurance (MA) and Physical Security. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Operations SecurityPhysical Security Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
