The Dietetic Technician (Call Center Associate) position is located at the Captain James A. Lovell Health Care Center (FHCC), North Chicago, IL in the Nutrition and Food Services Department. The incumbent provides administrative/customer service support, answers patient calls and enters meal orders into the Dietetics Software system.
Duties
The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative and customer service support for the FHCC hospital food service program. The incumbent performs routine duties that require exceptional computer skills, proper phone etiquette, proficiency in special dietary procedures, a broad knowledge of routine modified diets, combinations of diet modifications and knowledge of Dietetics software required functions.
Major Duties:
The Incumbent maintains the vital connection between the Call Center, Registered Dietitians, Food Service Operations and Patients.
Practice proper business telephone etiquette while answering phones and use strong listening and speaking skills.
Handle routine telephonic inquiries regarding patient meal orders and maintains log of telephonic clinic inquiries/concerns.
Contact patients who have missed meals or to take meal order by telephone or personal visit to patient.
Verify physician order for unusual diets, conflicting modifications, and nutritional supplements.
Retrieve and print computerized information/printouts.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:(Full-time) (40 hours per week). 6:00am-2:30pm and 5:45am-2:15pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/13/2024.
Experience: Must have six (6) months of general experience and six (6) months of specialized experience.
General experience is (1) any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.
Specialized experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques to perform the duties of this position being filled.
Examples of specialized experience typically include, but are not limited to: working with the principles of modified diets; understanding correct portions of food; working with computerized medical records; familiarity with tray line procedures including set up, assembly and mechanics, tray distribution, and nourishment and tube feeding distribution; using computer operations, phones systems, and printers; communicating effectively while maintaining good public relations; following oral and written instructions; working under pressure and as a team member; organizing work, analyzing data, and working under time constraints; and the ability to successfully complete the medical center's modified diet classes.
OR
Education: Must have successfully completed at least 2 years of education above high school with at least 12 semester hours in subjects directly related to the work of the position being filled. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Combination Education/Experience: Must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience that is directly related to the work of the Health Technician (Dietetic) position. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED

Physical Requirements: Must be able to work competently under pressure of deadlines. The work requires walking, standing, bending, lifting and carrying of light items, such as food trays, instruction material, books and manuals. DCC functions require long periods of sitting and moving about in an office environment. The work requires walking indoors and outdoors between buildings. Periodically, it is necessary to lift and/push equipment such as video-tape units used in employee education classes. Must be able to adjust to rotating days off and to alternating shifts including weekends and holidays. Incumbent is subject to continuous standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Discomforts may exist due to ventilation system and/or humidity changes in various buildings.
