This position is in the Caregiver Support Program (CSP) within the Extended Care & Rehabilitation Service Line (SL) at the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as the point of contact (receptionist) for the CSP, for communication for patients, visitors, escorts, other professional staff.
Maintains daily contact with professional services personnel providing care to ensure the best possible liaison between patient and health care system personnel.
Communicates appropriate information across service lines for seamless function of program and collaboration of care of patients.
Develops and maintains effective and efficient communication with the patient and interdisciplinary team, as well as outside agencies.
Scheduling appointments, interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA National Scheduling Guidelines.
Schedules consults based on established scheduling policies and procedures from VHA Directive for Outpatient Clinic Scheduling.
Prioritizes assigned contracts and selects the appropriate procurement methodologies for each contract based on knowledge of the Federal Acquisition
Develops contract Statement of Work for all medical sharing contracts as required and obtains all necessary internal facility reviews and approvals, ensuring all contract packages are complete and accurate.
Reviews and understands Health Care System Memorandums and Standard Operating Procedures, seeking clarification when needed.
Participates and provides input in problem solving on operational or procedural issues.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

Minimum Qualifications for GS-05 grade level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: performing various administrative duties (such as routing calls, mail, or correspondence); utilizing various software systems to collect data and/or maintain records; providing customer service to staff and visitors; and reviewing forms for completeness/accuracy. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level, you must have completed 4 years of education above high school at an accredited business, secretarial or technical college, junior college, college, or university. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this grade level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 60 semester hours (the second year) that totals 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements you meet, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed semester hours beyond the second year (EX: 75 semester hours - 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
