Position serves as primary clerical and administrative support for the El Paso VA Health Care System (EPVAHCS) Quality, Safety and Value (QSV) Service. Reports to the Chief, QSV with day- to-day oversight from the Assistant Chief, QSV. Responsibile for coordinating and integrating
hown work while ensuring that the functions of programs in the QSV Service are operating efficiently to support the entire EPVAHCS .
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Serving to effectively carry out day-to-day administrative operations for programs in the QSV office (i.e., Infection Control, Risk Management, Patient Safety, Continuous Readiness for The Joint Commission (TJC), Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and Office of the Inspector General reviews/letters , Performance Improvement, Systems Redesign and Patient Experience)
Responsible for accurate communication and coordinating administrative information between QSV programs and the various clinical and administrative services at the main facility and the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs)
Providing excellent customer service and adhering to VA local, national and service policies and procedures
Maintaining confidentiality agreements, abiding by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) laws and exhibiting ethical conduct at all times
Researching selected topics and/or concepts either directed or self-directed as it relates to the programs within QSV
Assembling and summarizing data, background information and other materials into report or presentation format
Performing work involving the collection compilation and or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the department's program operations
Assisting program managers with quality reviews, inspections and investigations
Providing general telephone and visitor referral services based on specific requests or ascertaining the nature of the call or request
Compiling statistical data for reports, charts, etc., extracting data from documents and posting or tabulating to worksheets
Developing/creating spreadsheets, reports and action plans with complied data
Maintaining confidential files, as well as a suspense file for pending due items
Processing incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports and other forms of communications
Serving as primary timekeeper for the service
Performing other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Fulltime, Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing a variety of administrative functions associated with communication and flow of information from within the programs and throughout the facility; possessing a working knowledge of the clinic processes and services to function in and interact with various clinics; must have a knowledge of health care system policies , procedures and regulations; basic performance improvement terminology knowledge; and skill in operating computer systems and software such as Microsoft applications to accurately enter or extract information; knowledge of quality assurance/performance improvement principles and responsible for ensuring administrative functions are carried out in the performance of duties; ability to plan, organize and coordinate work effectively to problem solve , make decisions and process priorities and knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation to prepare and format clear and concise written communication. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed four years of post-secondary (above high school) education. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education as described above.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
