This Administrative Support Assistant Position is located in the Division Manager of the Medical Subspecialties Services at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. The position includes performing the administrative support, technical and clerical work in support of management analysis and program analysis, the purpose of which is to evaluate and improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of the Medical Subspecialties Services Division.
Duties

Schedules and coordinates all appointments as requested or as needed.
Arranges meetings or conferences including selecting mutually satisfactory time, reserving meeting areas, notifying participants, and preparing reports of the proceedings.
Is responsible to determine whether the nature of a call or visit is one that should be directed to the Division Manager or referred to a subordinate.
Reviews all correspondence prepared for the Division Manager's signature of approval for format, procedural compliance, grammatical accuracy, and neatness. Determines routing of inquiries, complaints, etc. to appropriate area for information.
Coordinates the preparation and submission of a wide range of administrative reports for the Division.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Physical Requirements: This work is primarily sedentary. No special physical qualifications are required.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: Must have at least (1) one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Performing all technical duties to maintain an office and coordinating the work of the administrative office, preparing and proofreading written correspondence; reviews for accuracy, completeness, and format; and makes appropriate corrections. Working with PC operating systems and the use of word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-6 level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
