Duties
The selectee will serve as a/an Information Technology Specialist (NETWORK) in the Technical Security Division. Typical work assignments include:
Installing, configuring, operating, maintaining and optimizing data network equipment, components, operating systems and software, to include computers, printers, fiber local area network routers, switches, hubs, fire walls, intrusion detection systems.
Managing complex projects by preparing project plans, contingency plans, objectives, schedules, and allocating resources;
Defining system administration standards and processes for maintaining a sound server and system infrastructure.
Providing information technology (IT) system subject matter expertise to support the development for IT infrastructure systems.
Strengthening network security through disciplined configuration improvements and responses to network alerts or alarms.
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below
Basic Requirement: Applicants must demonstrate that they have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below
Attention to Detail -- Reviewing IT solutions for alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
Customer Service -- Working with customers to identify needs.
Oral Communication -- Communicating goals and expectation for IT projects/program activities.
Problem Solving -- Identifying strategies to address IT related problems.
AND
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $117,962.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level performing the following duties:
Conducting work in the implementation of Information Technology (IT) projects (i.e., data networks and multi-discipline information system projects) for an organization;
Coordinating with multiple stakeholders (i.e., management, vendors, customers, etc.) in the execution of plans for Information Technology (IT) systems; and
Analyzing Information Technology (IT) network and system performance for an organization.
