About the Position: Serves as Deputy Chief, of the Patient Administration Division under the supervision of Chief, Patient Administration. Manage, direct, coordinate and integrate patient administration functions for the Military Treatment Facility (MTF), and conduct studies and analyze policies and processes which impact patient administration. Duty Location 2nd floor Patient Administration Division, Tour of Duty 0730-1630, 40 hours per week.

Duties
Aids in quality assurance research projects and studies upon request.
Supervises technical and administrative support staff.
Provides data and analysis for Productivity Enhancement Program Projects.
Identifies trends and discrepancies in statistics.
Ensures reports outlined in regulations and publications are accurate and timely.
Ensures all aspects of patient administration are compliant with the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Responsible for planning, directing, and integrating the programs and processes of patient administration functions.
Formulates Standard Operating Procedures for patient administration functions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (NACI) background check.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1 Knowledge of Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) relative to medical records and coding functions; 2) Knowledge of applying analytical methods and techniques; 3) Knowledge of automated medical record system; 4) Knowledge of management principles, organizational theory, and techniques; and/or 5) Knowledge of the Disability Evaluation System (DES) processes and procedures.
OR
Education: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a degree or a major in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
