About the Position: The New Orleans MEPS is one of a network of 65 MEPS located nationwide and in Puerto Rico. The mission of USMEPCOM and the New Orleans MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.
The New Orleans MEPS is located in one of the most historic and picturesque cities in the United States. It is a tenant command of the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB), New Orleans.
Duties
Arrange transportation for all recruits and enlistees from the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).
Maintains monthly, weekly and daily contact with Service Liaisons.
Oversee all transportation orders to ensure consistency in arrangements.
Ensure applicant records and shipping packets are complete before departing the MEPS.
Provide awareness of up-to-date Transportation Security Agency (TSA) travel requirements to all recruits and enlistees.
Provide monthly, and as required, Passenger Standing Route Orders (PSRO) Diversion Reports to USMEPCOM.
Process adjustment reports with the charge card company when discrepancies are discovered.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The employee is cross-trained in other MEPS functions and fulfills these functions on a short or long-term basis as required.
- Employee will be required to work an occasional Saturday and be on call at least 3 hours after the last recruit flight.
- Must remain available three hours after the last scheduled flight on all shipping days to assist recruits experiencing unexpected delays, cancellation of flights, hospitalization, absence, or refusal of recruit or enlistee to fly.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: planning travel arrangements (ex. air, bus, rail) using an automated system; reconciling and certifying bills related to transportation; and providing briefings related to transportation issues (ex. Transportation Security Agency travel requirements). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business or Management. (Note: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
