THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This ND National Guard position is for a ALLIED TRADES WORKER, Position Description Number D1220000 and is part of the ND CSMS, National Guard.

Duties

As an Allied Traders Worker, the primary purpose is to assist higher graded workers in performing work in the skilled trades' occupations in support of maintenance functions. Performs complicated skilled trades tasks in any Allied Trades Shop. Repairs mobile equipment metal body components such as fenders, panels, hooks, truck beds. Paints a wide variety of vehicles using standard methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying by the use of coating materials that are prepared according to directions, and by the application of coating techniques that assure surface is fully coated, protected, and free from drips and runs. Modifies, repairs, and makes canvas parts such as truck tarpaulin, machinery, and equipment cover. Constructs and repairs boxes, pallets, wood bracing to be used in shipping and storage. Operates various machine tools of performing work involved in various simple fabrications as instructed by a higher graded machinist who will lay out the work required and give specific instructions in the performance of the work required.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the ND National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the ND National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposition is mandatory.
• You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
• May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours, overtime may be required.

PCS STATEMENT: PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION COSTS WILL NOT BE PAID FOR THIS POSITION. MILITARY GRADES: CW2 and Enlisted Members. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE Length of time is not of itself qualifying. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess the experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess 12 months of specialized experience which includes: 1) experience or training using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs; 2) experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories; 3) experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; 4) Skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments; 5) experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships; and 6) experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. You must also possess the experience, training or education to support your claim for the competency statements listed within the assessment questionnaire.
