The Office of the Chief Information Officer Office (CIOO), oversees the operations of the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer and Division of Information Technology. This office provides leadership, vision, definition and oversight of the FDIC information systems, information security and privacy programs. As FDIC's technology leader, the CIOO provides the FDIC with innovative and cost-effective IT solutions to support core business processes and to achieve mission-critical goal.
Duties
As an information technology intern you’ll get opportunities to utilize your current skills and develop new ones to handle the ever changing requirements of the Information technology industry. Under the direction and supervision, the incumbent will participate in and/or independently perform the following:
Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Qualifying Experience:
CG-05: 1 year of IT specialized experience equivalent to a GS-04. Specialized Experience for the CG-05: IT experience utilizing PC software and operating systems; assisting clients with the use of standard Microsoft applications; preparation of reports using Microsoft Office.
CG-07: 1 year of IT specialized experience equivalent to a GS-05. Specialized Experience for the CG-07: IT experience developing and maintaining web pages and web-based applications; troubleshooting hardware and software configuration problems.
CG-09: 1 year of IT experience performing PC software testing; writing installation scripts; developing software; researching and evaluating PC software and operating systems
Qualifying Education:
CG-05 level – Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree; OR have a combination of education and experience as listed above. Please note, only education in excess of 60 undergraduate hours may be used in this calculation.
CG-07 level –Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education, or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) with completion of a bachelor's degree. CG-09 level – Completion of all requirements for a master's degree or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate level education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR have a combination of education and experience as listed above.
Combination of Education and Experience - Your current education completed is credited as a percentage of the education required for the grade level and your current experience is credited as a percentage of the total experience required for the grade level. The two percentages are added and must equal 100% in order to qualify for the desired grade level.
NOTE: Prior to conversion to an Information Technology Specialist (2210 series), you must either have a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks or have IT related experience. IT related experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies listed below with a minimum of 1 year specialized experience at the next lower GS/CG level or equivalent:

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.3. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
