About the Position: This position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, with the Directorate of Missile and Aerospace Readiness (DMAR).
This is an upward mobility position and may be filled at the GS-07, GS-09, or GS-11 grade level, with promotion potential to the target grade.
Duties
Prepare reports concerning test findings, maintenance requirements, or reliability of test equipment used in the missile certification process.
Maintains physical and virtual servers that contain the shop floor networks databases and associated software/operating systems.
Evaluate maintenance requirements and operational capabilities of computerized test equipment and automated data processing systems/software.
Serve as contracting officer representative (COR) in maintaining contracts and preparing statements of work.
Consult with management and technical personnel of various commands concerning the readiness and capability of the missile automated data processing systems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- Business travel/temporary duty (TDY) may be required up to 20% of the time.
- Mobility Agreement required to assigned areas world-wide to support the mission.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968; persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible.
- Ammunition certification in accordance with AMC-R 350-4 is required within one year of appointment.
- Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Screening in accordance with AR 190-11 required initially and annually.
- Pre-employment and annual physical examinations required.
- Position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Lifting requirement up to 40 lbs.
- This is a temporary position scheduled to last one year and may be extended up to 5 years.
- COR certification required within a reasonable time frame upon hire IAW DODI 5000.72.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Information Assurance baseline certification within a reasonable time frame upon hire IAW DOD Manual 8570.
- This position requires the incumbent to work on an irregular or unscheduled, on-call basis.
Qualifications
This position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a temporary appointment not to exceed 1 year if candidate is NOT a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.

GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) assisting with troubleshooting deficiencies and determining appropriate repair of missile systems equipment; 2) applying applications of network equipment and related hardware; and 3) researching manuals and standard operating procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) troubleshooting deficiencies and determining appropriate repair of missile systems equipment; 2) supporting physical and virtual servers that contain the shop floor network's databases; 3) applying applications of network equipment and related hardware; and 4) updating manuals, instructions, and operating procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) troubleshooting deficiencies and determining appropriate repair, modification, or corrective action of missile systems test equipment; 2) performing studies of automated data processing (ADP) functions to assure validity of testing and data findings; 3) maintaining physical and virtual servers that contain the shop floor network's databases; and 4) developing standard operating procedures for new or upgraded systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
