This position is located with the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Force Readiness Command, Special Missions Training Center (SMTC) at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Duties

The position serves as a Training Instructor providing Precision Marksmanship (PM) instruction and training and Advanced Marksmanship (AM), Close Quarters Combat (CQC) instruction and training at SMTC under the direction of the Deployable Specialized Forces (DSF) Branch Chief.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires a Top Secret with SCI background Investigation.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • A final offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug test result.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of Specialized Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Government Counterterrorism policies and TTP. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the USCG Commandants Use of Force Continuum and skill in applying it to AI/CT operations. Technical knowledge of Precision Marksman/Sniper and AM and CQC; an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of worldwide developments and issues regarding serious potential threats; and the ability to counter their impact on life and property. Knowledge of the Coast Guard's mission, the Coast Guard's organizational structure and operational capabilities, HRT policies and procedures, Coast Guard training policies and procedures and the ability to lead a diverse team of precision marksman and tactical operators. Professional knowledge of Maritime and Aviation Precision Marksmanship Observer Teams, basic and advanced marksmanship, advanced CT tactics, tactical reconnaissance, breaching, air and waterborne infiltration, mission planning, and other related TTP. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
