This position is located at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC) in Phoenix, Arizona. The incumbent provides registration and eligibility services which are the key point of interaction with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance information for alternate resources, Purchased Referred Care (PRC) and private/commercial insurance. Serves as first line work leader for three (3) or more contact representatives.

Duties

Serves as first line work leader for Contact Representatives in the Patient Registration section. Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee has enough work to keep busy; Maintain a current knowledge and answer questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc. and obtain needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up; Provides leadership to other contact representatives in the department and services as an advocate for American Indian/Alaskan Natives (AI/AN) patients in the effective utilization of alternate resources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Department of Veteran's Affairs and Affordable Care Act (ACA), and the eligibility of services to AI/AN. Works with Purchased Referred Care in screening for potential eligibility for services. Assists patients with applications for alternate resources and interpreting rules and regulations of the agency and/or federal and state entities. Assures identification of all patients who may have alternate resources by screening and monitoring interviewing methods of Contact Representatives. Maintains, key enter, updates and verifies all alternate resources data necessary for patient registration and for accurate billing through the use of the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS). Makes corrections as necessary to improve this system. Updates address and biography data with current alternate resource information.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0962-07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Served as an advocate for patients regarding eligibility requirements of alternate resources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Social Security Supplemental Income (SSI), State Medicaid Programs, etc. Assist patients by interviewing, explaining, and collecting data for alternate resource applications and follow up on pending or denial of claims. Provides continuous research and advocates on behalf of patients regarding current health care laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
