About the Position: Serves as a Facility Operations Specialist assisting in the plans and managing of a facility management program for the Army Medical Center of Excellence, located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Manage the Real Property Program. Use a wide variety of reference materials and manuals. Evaluate information and data for the purpose of making recommendations. Maintain effective relationships with all levels of management.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes knowledge of contracts, renovation, and repair and the impact they have on medical training facilities; must be able to coordinate construction work and resolve scheduling problems at all levels; conducting surveillance activities over construction and maintenance operations performed by a variety of private contractors, including reviewing project plans and specifications for workability, informing contractors of construction and reporting requirements, and supervising operations for conformance with project plans; executing short term plans for facilities projects; assisting in initiating project improvement processes; estimating funding requirements for facilities projects; utilizing automated tools to generate work requests for facilities projects and programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities Operations and MaintenanceFacilities Reporting and Record-KeepingProject Planning, Design, and Construction Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
