As a Financial Management Specialist with the Regional Financial Office, you will provide financial knowledge interpreting the significance behind the numbers and research financial data within the NASA financial system. You will need to be skilled in multitasking as deliverables and due dates may overlap with identical importance. You will communicate with peers, leadership, external sources, and/or the NASA Shared Services Center on a regular and recurring basis.

Duties

Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Analyze a variety of integrated accounts within the accounting system that includes cost, obligations and/or disbursements and provide technical guidance regarding the recording and control of accounting transactions. Prepare and complete monthly submission of Continuous Monitoring Program per guidance and analyze and resolve outstanding items. Provide help to the Team Lead with monthly Continuous Monitoring Program reporting. Provide complex analysis, validation, and reconciliation input of integrated accounts within NASA’s accounting system (SAP). Assist Team Lead with oversight of non-complex analysis and reconciliations. Utilize complex government accounting principles, concepts, techniques, policies, and procedures and apply it to a broad array of circumstances. Maintain documentation/communication of financial transactions in support of financial reviews and audits. Communicate complex issues and concerns to senior leadership throughout the Agency. Access Invoice Routing and Information System (IRIS) throughout the week and monitor the center Queue for due dates of invoices associated with contracts. Communicate with Procurement and/or Resource Analysts on complex issues that may prevent timely resolutions. Review and approve non-assisted acquisition Interagency Agreements. Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Providing support through oral and written communication to internal/external stakeholders and team members; Assisting with financial management processes, activities, and reviews; Supporting analysis, reconciliation, and/or interpretation of financial data. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Utilizing theories, practices, methods and techniques of systems operations; Providing guidance and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders or team members on financial processes; Utilizing qualitative or quantitative methods to analyze, reconcile, and/or interpret financial data to improve products and services.
