Duties
As a National Death Index Program Specialist you will:
Provide general financial management, budgeting, and fee calculation assistance for all National Death Index (NDI) services.
Ensure that all automated reporting systems are up-to-date and that monthly accounting reports, NDI invoices and check deposits are verified.
Prepare and oversee interagency agreements made between CDC, on behalf of the NDI program office, and other Federal agencies
Process payments for NDI services that are in the form of checks and purchase orders and credit cards.
Manage accounts receivable and notify NDI users whose payments are overdue.
Assist customers as they seek information about the NDI, its products, fees, and procedures.
Perform a variety of quality control checks to ensure that each customers' search records conform to NDI file format and coding specifications; structures and submit search requests.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, which must include the following experience in databases, record-keeping procedures, and management techniques to track progress in multiple projects in order to operate and maintain of the National Death Index (NDI).
Or
Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
Or
Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience in the operation and maintenance of financial management activities in order to operate and maintain of the National Death Index (NDI).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Promotion potential: Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your meeting qualifications and time-in-grade requirements, demonstrated ability to perform the higher-level duties, the continuing need for the higher-level duties, and administrative approval. Promotion to the next grade level is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.
