Duties
Serve as a Victim Advocate Coordinator providing comprehensive assistance and liaison services to and for victims of spouse abuse.
Educate personnel on the installation regarding the most effective responses to domestic violence on behalf of victims and at-risk family members through trainings and/or briefings.
Effectively communicate with the community, law enforcement, organizational management, families, and victims to provide information needed to advocate for, prevent, and support victims of abuse.
Display discretion, compassion, commitment, and trust in offering advocacy and support services to victims of abuse.
Position is not remote, required in office daily, with the option of no more than 1 day of telework.
Providing non-clinical support to adult victims of domestic violence.
Experience applying primary prevention principles, domestic violence dynamics, and local social services delivery systems, concepts, principles and theories and community resources for domestic violence victim advocacy.
Provide one-one-one victim advocacy assistance and information to domestic violence victims.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require contact with children under the age 18. Initial background checks, investigation and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy position required.
- Must be available to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Required to man a 24/7 helpline on a rotating basis. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours, on-call, or rotational shifts.

Basic Requirement for Victim Advocate Coordinator:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position such as Social Work, Psychology, Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling, Counseling or Behavioral Science, Education, Community Health or Public Health. OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience (Two years preferred) which includes: 1) Interacting with victims of child abuse and/or domestic violence; 2) Documenting and/or maintaining records of reported abuse; and 3) Participation in abuse education training programs (such as Child Abuse Prevention Month and Domestic Violence Prevention Month).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Social Work, Psychology, Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling, Counseling or Behavioral Science, Education, Community Health or Public Health. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. . Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
