Duties

You will perform full range examination and identification of inert munitions turned in to the recycling center You will be responsible for handling munitions materials to ensure safety standards are followed and maintained You will sign certification documents of range residue and material potentiall possessing explosive hazards for disposal and/or recycling You will implement standard operating procedures regarding use of proper PPE, safety precautions and ensure unauthorized materials are identified and removed. You will report all incidents of equipment malfunctions before recommending operations. You will operate stake trucks with gross weight of more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 lbs. You will operate forklifts (diesel, gasoline, and propane powered), skid steer loader, and sweeper in handling recyclable materials. You will be skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backing, and driving equipment through narrow aisles, up and down ramps. in and out trucks for lifting, lowering, and tilting forklift operating controls. You will ensure cargo is properly protected, distributed, and secured to prevent damage or loss during transit. You will identify, manifest, and coordinate turing in of all materials used or received to the recycling center. You will conduct monthly inventory of all material storage lockers to ensure regulatory compliance. You will interface with customers, explain policy, and screen al incoming loads. You will direct customers to the proper disposition of waste materials.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This position must be able to meet all medical requirements for the position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and audio metric tests will be conducted, as necessary, when working near or around noise hazardous areas, machinery or equipment and be respirator certified.
  • This position will be dusty, dirty and grease and is frequently exposed to the possibility of major injuries, as well as cuts, scrapes and bruises in close proximity with materials handling equipment.
  • You will be required to complete the 40 hour Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste handling Course (ALMC-HA).
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift certification handling up to 10,000 lbs.
  • You will be required be trained to operate 00-5000 Ordnance Deformer.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: performing common tasks including receiving, handling, segregating, storing, stowing, inventorying, and documenting the movement and storage of supplies, equipment, or materials including material potentially presenting an explosive hazards in accordance with prescribed regulations; packing, labeling, cushioning, banding, and wrapping HAZMAT and other materials.
