You will serve as a EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Emergency Planning Division (Code 1130) of the Executive Support Office (Code 1100) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will respond to actual emergencies and disasters. You will develop and disseminate maps and zoning information in preparation for planned and unplanned disasters. You will monitor and evaluate the reasonableness of shipyard facilities use during emergencies and drills. You will make recommendations on training and educating the workforce on the matters under the cognizance of the emergency management program. You will maintain emergency management response equipment and gear.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience responding to emergencies and disasters that occur within assigned territory. Experience with emergency contingency planning and procedures, to include the ICS and NIMS to appropriately respond to, and sustain the effectiveness, coordination and alignment of operations and resources during emergency situations and planned drills. Experience developing new and revised procedures and policies to sustain the effectiveness of emergency program operations. Experience assessing the effectiveness of emergency management plans, programs, drills and response to actual emergencies. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience FOR GS-11:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

Possession of a LL.M., if related

or

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
