This position will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation on Nellis AFB, NV.

Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in life saving, water rescue methods and skills, basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.
Duties
The Primary purpose of this position is to provide an aquatics coordinator to oversee scheduling and training of lower graded lifeguards and to perform routine lifeguard duties.
Assists the supervisor in planning, coordinating, and marketing the installation aquatics program. Performs program support duties in various areas such as marketing, procedures, scheduling, records management, personnel, and financial management. Provides input to the supervisor regarding lifeguard performance. Conducts training in the areas of safety, cash handling, emergency response, customer service, lifesaving, CPR, handling chemicals, and other areas as directed by the supervisor. Provides swimming lessons and instruction to individuals or groups of adults and/or children. Instructs patrons on rules and procedures for safe swimming. Inspects pools for safe conditions, and performs other duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming pool to include cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, and pool decks. Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and that only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. May be required to ensure diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.

- This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Background Investigation with Inquiries and State Checks.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities. Knowledge of rules, procedures, and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. A state Certified Pool Operator certificate and water safety instruction certificate is desirable. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
