Duties
Assists and initiates the development of Bureau policies and programs as they relate to effective GED literacy, high school, alternative literacy, special learning needs, post-secondary, occupational education, adult continuing education, English-as-a-Second Language, libraries, recreation, leisure time activities, inmate wellness, special projects, reentry, and related activities. Coordinates and recommends Central Office actions affecting quality of education and leisure activity programs and serves, as assigned as liaison with other Central Office, regional and institution staff. Assists in the development and completions of reports and documents for the agency’s executive staff, in convening workshops and conferences, and provide input to the Assistant Education Administrator in the planning, implementation, and follow-up of such meetings. Reviews current literature and research studies and reports.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following:
Basic Requirements: A. Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above. AND In addition to the basic requirements, you must have: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Experience in developing policies and programs, providing expert advice in area of specialty and providing guidance, direction, supervision, advice and/or evaluation for a program.
Experience in addressing learning styles and accommodations for students with special learning needs.
Experience in developing assessment instruments to measure program performance and preparing related reports to summarize results.
Experience in developing procedures to maintain budget performance.
