Duties
Serves as project leader responsible for developing, assigning, and coordinating duties and projects for systems administrators.
Serves as the senior systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to support customer needs.
Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications. Directs testing of vendor-provided software.
Troubleshoots problems and implements changes on multiple computer platforms. Diagnose system failures to isolate source of problems between equipment, system software, and application programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification.

- Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
Qualifications
IAW DoD 8570.01-M you will have 6 months from date of hire to acquire the appropriate IAT, IAM or IASAE level certification designated by the position and/or supervisor. Failure to do so may result in termination.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Include experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 48 months experience, training, or knowledge of variety of operating systems (i.e., Windows Server, Windows 11, Linux, etc.) on desktop and server assets in order to administer user accounts and perform backup operations. Knowledge of project management techniques and tools sufficient to provide expert guidance on the implementation of emerging technologies to diverse dispersed locations throughout the state. Ability to lead team members who are assigned to one or more locations in the state. Knowledge of, and skill in applying the principles and methods for planning, updating, and integrating information system components, including software, controlling future releases, and documenting information and physical characteristics of an information system or product. Skill in troubleshooting problems in the data center and implementing changes on multifaceted and interdependent computer platforms. Must have at least 12 months of specialized equivalent experience to at least grade 11 in the normal line of progression. This includes experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

Education
You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-12. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
