This position is located in the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System at Gainesville VA Medical Center in the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service, Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC). The incumbent provides program support for three distinct program areas of the GRECC: research, clinical and education.

Duties

The incumbent provides program support to the three distinct program areas of the GRECC: research. clinical, and education. He/she maintains calendar of appointments for group meetings. conference calls, and other various scheduled activities, and assists in maintenance of the calendar of the GRECC Director in the absence of the secretary. Serves as a point of contact for patients, medical staff, VISN staff, University of Florida staff,: community agencies, and various others who contact this office, both in person and by telephone. Is responsible for basic grammar, sentence organization for greater clarity. and uniformity of style of medical and technical material. Processes budget items and obligations which meet the approval of the GRECC Management Analyst according to established procedures. Prepares correspondence for the signature of the Associate Directors for Research. Education and Clinical Care from drafts prepared by these staff members. Responsible for establishing and maintaining an inventory of all leased and purchased equipment, including repair records. Provides accurate data to the GRECC Management Analyst and the Associate Director for Education and Evaluation for use in Central Office reports. Facilitates efficient and accurate on-site registration at conferences that are presented regionally by the GRECC and coordinated by the GRECC Associate Director for Education and Evaluation. Performs backup timekeeping functions for all GRECC staff in the absence of the GRECC Secretary. Receives incoming mail. notes deadlines imposed and calls attention to the appropriate staff. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Facilitates efficient and accurate on-site registration at conferences that are presented regionally by the GRECC and coordinated by the GRECC Associate Director for Education and Evaluation In addition to meeting experience requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test. Clerk-Typist, GS-2/4; Office Automation Clerk/ Assistant (any grade); (Typing) (any grade); and (Office Automation) (any grade): 40 words per minute typing speed. There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
