The primary purpose of this position, Management Assistant, GS-0344-7 is to perform work in support of various management analysis functions and administrative duties in support of the organization.

Duties

Assist the flight in all aspects of managing assigned text/evaluation and training programs. Review program introduction documents and customer requirement to determine completeness and supportability. Assist the flight in all aspects of managing its office supplies, equipment, building and vehicles. Perform administrative office support functions and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, related functions, customers, and operating officials. Use multiple office automation software capabilities to produce a wide range of documents often requiring complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing database spreadsheets.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is primarily sedentary. May require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items such as paper or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in a typical office setting, requiring the use of normal safety precautions necessary for an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from normal duty station on military or commercial vehicles and aircraft.
  • Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
  • Direct Deposit: All federal employees are required to have direct deposit.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the duties, priorities, commitments, policies and program goals of an organization sufficient to perform nonroutine assignments, such as independently noting and follow-up on comments made at meetings/conferences; shifting administrative support in subordinate offices to respond to fluctuating workloads; advising other staff on preparing correspondence, requirements for various reports, and interpreting new instructions and procedures; or locating and summarizing information from the files and documents that requires recognizing which information is or is not relevant to the problem at hand. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to be able to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports. Knowledge of software programs to produce a wide range of documents requiring use of standard office automation software functions to enhance productivity or meet needs of complex formats such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. Skill in applying data gathering methods to collect factual information. Ability to analyze data to determine changes and trends. Ability to analyze, verify, and correlate data; locate, assemble, and compose information for nonroutine reports, inquiries, and technical correspondence; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; plan; organize work; and meet deadlines. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
