The primary purpose of this position, MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION),GS-0344-7, is to provide both administrative and technical support to the Group. Support includes active participation in support of management analysis, the purpose of which is to evaluate and improve the efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of organizations.

Duties

Work with higher graded analysts to maintain an automated database management program. Assist analysts in conducting analysis of maintenance production performance. Use multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets. Provide advice and assistance to supervisors on aspects of the Air Force Maintenance program. Perform administrative and technical office support functions and maintains cooperative working relationships with coworkers, related functions, customers, and operating officials.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is mostly sedentary but may require visits to other directorate locations. Some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of items weighing 25 pounds or less without assistance maybe required.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: The incumbent works in an adequately lighted, and ventilated office environment. Observes normal office safety precautions.
  • Applicant must upload an authorized proficiency certificate or self-certify proficiency in the assessment tool. NOTE: You will be considered INELIGIBLE if no information is provided concerning typing speed.
  • Applicants must have skills as a qualified typist, a minimum of 40 WPM proficiency.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. GS-7 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks), or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-6), or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: extensive management and/or program analysis technical rules, guidelines, regulations, and precedents; and apply basic data gathering methods, such as standard interviewing or surveying techniques, to collect various types of factual information. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. Due to the use of 120 day rosters, applicants within 120 days of completion of TIG requirements are encouraged to apply. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of research techniques in developing special studies and briefings based on fragmented, widely dispersed and varied sources of information and/or data. Incumbent must be highly proficient in various office automation software programs, tools and techniques to support operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports spreadsheets, databases and graphs. Knowledge of appropriate grammar, spelling, punctuation, Air Force acronyms and abbreviations and format to be able to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports. Knowledge of internal management operating systems, processes and their interrelationship with those of other directorates. Ability to analyze, verify, and correlate data, and locate, assemble, and compose information for non-routine reports, inquiries, and technical correspondence. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
