We expect to fill 1 vacancy at each location and if needed, other locations within the Montana/Dakotas State, District or Field offices may be considered based on need and management discretion.
Duties
Selection at the GS 07 or 08 level, the incumbent will perform the duties of the position, with a reduced level of responsibility and/or difficulty, while receiving on-the-job trainee assignments or other appropriate training.
At full performance level, duties include, but not limited to, the following: Coordinates information and develops Integrated Weed Management (IWM) program portion of the Annual Work Plan (AWP) budget submittal.
Develops partnerships/funding sources for coordinated program with neighboring landowners and land management agencies.
Develops the Allotment Management Plans (AMP) and/or watershed plans in accordance with the land use plans.
Develops strategies for the prevention and control of noxious and invasive weeds.
Requirements

GS 07: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: independently perform all aspects of treating weeds (as navigating equipment to infestations (whether preidentified or observed through daily travels), identifying weed species, applying appropriate treatment, documenting, and reporting as required) with supervision; documents pesticide use; Assists with inventory and monitoring weed infestation, maintaining spraying equipment, and responsible for complying with proper application, storage, and handling of pesticides.

Education: Successfully completed one (1) full year of graduate education related to the work of the position such as forestry, range management or conservation, wildlife management, agriculture, crop or plant science.

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
GS 08: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: independently perform all aspects of treating weeds(as navigating equipment to infestations (whether preidentified or observed through daily travels), identifying weed species, applying appropriate treatment, documenting, and reporting as required) with minimal supervision; documents pesticide use; assists staff with mapping, weed monitoring, and developing weed management plans as well as project design features to mitigate and/or reduce expansion/introduction of invasive species.

Education: Successfully completed two (2) full year of graduate education related to the work of the position such as forestry, range management or conservation, wildlife management, agriculture, crop or plant science.

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
GS 09: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: independently perform all aspects of treating weeds (as navigating equipment to infestations (whether preidentified or observed through daily travels), identifying weed species, applying appropriate treatment, documenting, and reporting as required) without supervision; is primary resource staff for mapping, weed monitoring, and developing a weed management plan; assisting in the management of public range resources of a district or other specified area by observing and reporting special conditions regarding them; and performing all detailed work necessary to complete specific plans for development of an area for proper range management and conservation.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
Physical Demands: The work ranges from sedentary when completing duties in the office to frequent field work requiring a considerable amount of walking, riding, stooping, bending, and lifting.
Work Environment: Much of the time is spent in the field where exposure to extremes of heat and cold, rough terrain, insects, snakes, and other hazards are common. Carefully adheres to all safety procedures to mitigate hazards encountered.
