The Supervisory Transportation Assistant is responsible for assisting the Chief, Transportation Service in overseeing Beneficiary Travel and the daily activities of clerical staff who perform in a team-oriented, customer-driven; improve access and coordination of care; educate and empower patients and their families; enhance the customer experience with positive human interactions and therapeutic alliances; and promote the coordination, continuity and integration of care.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates and establish and adjusts short-term priorities and deadlines.
Assign work to subordinate based upon program priorities, subordinates' capabilities, and assignment requirements.
Maintain standards for the performance, standardization and consistency of work assigned to subordinate staff and conducts periodic evaluations of the work performance of subordinates.
Provide advice, counsel, or instructions to employees/volunteers on administrative and technical matters.
Regularly monitor work operations to increase quality or work directed.
Develop performance standards, submit requests for employee staffing actions, interviews candidates, recommend selections, reassignments, and promotions.
Coordinating multiple transportation service options with the needs of individual veterans residing throughout the NAVAHCS Service Area.
Arrangement of transportation for veterans using VTS or BT. This includes but is not limited to communicating with Veteran, treatment team, special mode vendors, shuttle drivers or other transport options.
Auditing of VA paid special mode transportation and Beneficiary Travel Mileage claim payments.
Quality assurance; monitoring compliance of special mode vendors with contracts requirements, proper reporting of accidents or injury, patient safety.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicant must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/15/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Coordinating, supervising, assessing, planning, and evaluating all of the transportation needs of a section. Plans, schedules, assigns, and manages work for the section.
