This position is located within the Beneficiary Travel Department of the Transportation Service at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott, AZ. The Transportation Assistant performs transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program.
Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Performing work involving consult management, appointment scheduling and admissions scheduling. Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS).
Performing a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Incumbent will evaluate documents, e.g., sampling plans, permit applications and other data collection forms.
Aggregating in-coming data from a variety of sources.
Reviewing documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
Entering pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
Coordinating service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas.
Planning consult processing flow to ensure veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner.
Planning for, organizing, administering, and directing how the work will be accomplished for the VTS program.
Planning and directing programs that provide support services functions and require the application of specialized knowledge and skills.
Providing advisory services to the Supervisor regarding the requirements and implications of the office services provided.
Collecting, reviewing and processing of Mileage and Ambulance Claims.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Compressed schedule, between 7:00AM to 5:30PM

Qualifications
TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-06 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05) that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled? Qualifying examples of specialized experience includes: performing transportation support duties such as coordinating and scheduling services; documenting travel information; entering data into automated tracking databases and generating reports; and performing clerical support responsibilities. NOTE: Your resume must show complete information for each job entry, such as beginning and ending dates of employment, duties performed, and/or total hours worked per week.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that require a professional attitude and collective reasoning. The incumbent is subject to a high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever-changing demands due to program changes.
