This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as an Information Technology Specialist for the Joint Staff J7, Joint Training Environment Operations Division (EOD), responsible for the implementation, maintenance and cybersecurity posture of the Joint Training Enterprise Information System Environment, server and workstation requirements.

As a IT SPECIALIST (OS) at the GG-2210-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serves as a subject matter expert for the Data center, incumbent ensures that all assets, servers, storage media, workstations and peripherals are maintained according to Department of Defense (DoD) cyber security guidelines and DoD/Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).
Designs, installs and maintains physical & virtual servers, appliances and storage in the Joint Staff J7 Data Center and develops system support and maintenance schedules to provide 24x7 operations.
Maintains data center server, storage and workstation documentation and diagrams for Risk Management Framework (RMF) Accreditation to meet Cyber Command's strict cyber posture requirements.
Develops and maintains equipment and software Life Cycle Management (LCM) documentation necessary to support division budget submissions.
Analyzes future technology trends to reduce overall operating costs within the Joint Training Environment Reports status of cyber compliance posture and attainment of overall LCM metrics in accordance with the LCM program.
Develops and implements agency guidelines ensuring that staff at all levels are informed of any new or changed policies/guidelines.
Coordinates with industry to evaluate new technology as it applies to LCM of the data center capabilities and compliance with the Joint Information Environment (JIE) standards.
Ensures equipment/software and labor resources are adequately scheduled to meet joint training event requirements to include data center assets as well as deployable servers, storage, and workstations.
Provides authoritative advice to other specialists in areas such as disaster recovery, capacity planning, applications development, hardware strategy, and operating systems security.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GG 13 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Executes a wide conglomeration of Operating Systems functions in a Datacenter utilizing Information Systems, Cyber Security, virtual infrastructure, containerization, Storage Area Network and data center operations;
Applies Systems/Applications: Windows Domain, Windows Server, Linux Server, IIS, Tomcat/Apache, DNS/DHCP, Databases, SharePoint Portal Server, HBSS, ACAS, Veritas NetBackup, Red Hat Satellite, and VMWare for service control, monitoring, Enterprise Directory Services, Single Sign On and storage management across numerous domains that support joint training;
Serves as a project manager on future and resolution planning and IT issues arising in support of software installation and configuration procedures in the operating environment of testing activities and training mission.
