Duties
This position is responsible for Surgical Resident and Medical Student coordination in the Surgical Care Division. The employee serves as the point of contact for the Surgical Resident and Student programs and is the principle liaison between the VA Medical Center, Medical College of Wisconsin, and the residents/students. The employee is a purchase card holder, providing approving official with all pertinent purchase card documents for approval by the same and maintains documentation as required. The employee also performs timekeeping duties for the residents.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-06 Level: Must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-05) in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes: Working knowledge of office routines; Understanding of resident rotations and in-depth knowledge of medical residents and student on-call schedules; Performing Timekeeping duties; Working with computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, CPRS and VISTA; Relating to internal and external customers; Performing minor software and hardware problem resolution.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be walking, standing, and bending. Carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Education
There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
