This position is located within a National Forest. The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine clerical and office automation duties in support of the unit.
Duties
Types a variety of correspondence, reports, and office forms in final form. This can include such things as technical or tabular material, rough draft or voice recordings.
Uses word processing software to create, copy, edit (e.g., insert, delete, move text) and include substantive changes. Transmits, receives, and acknowledges electronic mail and messages.
Greets office visitors and answers telephone; provides routine information such as telephone numbers or location of key personnel. Refers other inquiries to appropriate person.
Files correspondence, reports, and similar materials in manual or electronic files. Posts and files manuals, handbook changes, and supplements.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

GS-03: Applicants must have six months of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work which provided the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position being filled; OR one year of successfully completed education above high school; OR combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
Examples of General Experience includes: Performing office work such as answering telephone calls, filing, typing, checking e-mails, opening mail, routing mail, and making copies and/or maintaining straightforward records
Selective Factor:
Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors over a 5-minute sample.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
