About the Position: Serve as the expert responsible for policy and oversight of military and civilian education and tuition, credentialing, and transition programs and issues. The position is located at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.

Duties

Provide advice and assistance to senior leaders on plans, programs, budgets, policies and legislative proposals relating to Education, Tuition and Credentialing Assistance. Provide policy determinations to operating organizations and to Commanders regarding how to support National Education Goals Monitor changes in legislation to assess the impact on education, tuition and credentialing assistance, and transition assistance programs. Formulate long-range goals and objectives for the education of soldiers, civilian employees and their family members. Interface between the Secretary of the Army and the Department of Education to establish and meet common objectives. Establish and maintain liaison with Offices of the Assistant Secretaries of Education, Labor and Veterans Affairs and state and local governments.

Specialized experience is defined as: execute initiatives in education, tuition assistance, credentialing, and transition programs; oversee multiple requirements relating to military and civilian education in areas such as: policy interpretations, budget obligations, establishment of broad program goals and/or educational program evaluations; partner with a variety of stakeholders to achieve National Education Goals; and prepare senior leadership for high-level meetings, testimony, and other important engagements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: PartneringPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
