You will serve as a Pipefitter Leader in the Production Resources Department of PSNS and IMF, San Diego Detachment.

Duties

You will instruct pipefitter mechanics, workers, helpers and ship's force personnel in the skills of the trade. You will conduct training for nuclear and non-nuclear work. You will assure that needed work permits, system tag outs, work instructions, drawings, material and special tooling area on the job site when needed. You will pass on instructions received from supervisors and get work started. You will work with other workers and set the pace. You will maintain a current knowledge and answer questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives.

Requirements

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position may require rotating shift work.
  • This position requires the ability to lift and carry 60 pounds.
  • This position requires work in confined spaces.
  • This position requires work onboard ships.
  • This position involves work that requires stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching and climbing ladders.
