This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The position reports to the Chief of Staff.
Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Creates, integrates, disseminates and manages data for all enterprise applications;
Applies statistical, machine learning, visualization, inferencing and other techniques to enable decision support;
Develops data pipelines and reporting systems consisting of relevant and timely measures to quantify deficiencies and visualize improvements over time;
Evaluates, documents, analyzes, prioritizes, and recognizes requirements for the improvement of the EHR and other systems in collaboration with the end-user;
Enables healthcare capabilities and the evolution of technology adjoined to the EHR to deliver quality care;
Ensures the VHA EHR operates in a way that improves patient care, ensures patient safety, and meets the needs of providers through continuous evaluation, testing, and improvement of the system;
Responsible for management, assessment, design, integration, modification, maintenance, and analysis of programs and processes related to the field of clinical informatics;
Cultivates and maintains effective relationships with key partners and stakeholders that impact informatics;
Exercises supervisory authorities and responsibilities involving work assignments;
Assigns, reviews, and approves work and evaluates employee performance;
Hears and resolves group grievances or serious employee complaints;
Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate;
Performs activities that support the management and delivery of educational experiences using information solutions and technology in all areas of healthcare;
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you MUST meet the following requirement:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Program Analyst, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes exercising supervisory authorities to accomplish the work of a health informatics office; creating, integrating, and managing data for all enterprise applications; evaluating content quality; eliminating redundancy in duplicate data sources; applying statistical, machine learning, visualization, inferencing and other techniques to enable decision support; and overseeing the management, planning, scheduling and controlling of a software build through different stages and environments.
Preferred Qualifications: It is highly preferred that applicants possess a degree in Health Informatics. It is also highly preferred that applicants possess supervisory and project management experience.

Physical Requirements: The work will involve standing, sitting, and walking. Travel to local institutions and to other facilities within the VISN as well as VA central office may be necessary on an occasional basis. Most activities will be performed at a computer terminal.
