This position is at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in the Office of Consumer Financial Protection. This position serves as a Special Assistant.

Duties

As a Special Assistant, you will: Lead projects involving extensive research and fact-finding to develop opinion papers on a variety of consumer financial protection matters, including fair lending, consumer compliance, consumer complaints and other types of high-level reports. Work with other central and regional offices to develop consumer financial protection programs and projects. Provide guidance and direction to program offices in the development of consumer financial protection projects and related timelines. Maintain control over consumer financial protection projects and working groups to inform the NCUA Chairman of the Board and Director of OCFP on a continual basis of status. Provide guidance and direction regarding decision points of consumer financial protection projects and working groups. Lead efforts to accomplish numerous complex and high priority confidential and sensitive special projects for the NCUA Chairman of the Board and Director of OCFP. Determine nature of background information and data, format of presentation, and levels of coordination. Coordinate regularly with offices of interest on consumer financial protection matters to obtain and assimilate perspectives and opinion. Represent the NCUA and reconciles differences of opinion on the applications of consumer financial protection, fair lending, and consumer complaints policies and operational matters that may be discriminatory, including enforcement.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. All applicants applying for the CU-15 level must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-14 level obtained in the private or public sector. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in all of the following: 1. Performing analysis of issues related to policies, practices, and resources required in the governance of consumer financial protection; and 2. Providing advice and guidance to executive leadership on establishment and implementation of changes to a variety of consumer financial protection policies and programs. You must meet the qualifications for this position by the closing date of this announcement.
