About the Position: Serves as a Police Officer (CLE) engaged in Conservation Law Enforcement duties. Participates in investigations into violations of environmental and fish and game laws. Conducts various safety, search, and rescue services. Supplements the Physical Security Program in remote areas of the installation.

Duties

Apprehend and detain violators. Detect and apprehend wanted persons accused of crimes in other jurisdictions. Stop, question, and detain persons of interest and notify appropriate law enforcement agencies. Conduct preliminary investigations pertaining to felonies, misdemeanors, and other criminal acts. Liaison with local, State, and the U.S. Department of the Interior (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) in studies of endangered wildlife species and threatened populations. Conduct marine patrols to ascertain compliance with federal and state boating laws. Enforce hunting, trapping and fishing regulations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Requires Secret Clearance (Tier3).
  • Must meet the conditions of employment identified in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56; "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program." Prior to appointment you must agree in writing to adhere to these conditions of employment.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to carry a firearm, qualify with their assigned weapon and remain proficient in the use of their assigned weapon and police related equipment which may include chemical aerosol irritants and LESD.
  • The position requires the selectee possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Incumbent must be certified to use police weapons, equipment, cameras, crime scene evidence collecting equipment, and automated police information retrieval systems.
  • This position requires you to pass the record Physical Ability Test (PAT) within 30 days of being hired and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the selectee to qualify annually for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) as explained in IAW 190-56, Chapter 3.
  • Applicants must successfully graduate from the United States Army Military Police School Civilian Police Academy within 12 months of hire date; unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent is required to wear prescribed uniform.
  • This position requires an initial and periodic medical examination to assess your ability to take the Physical Ability Test and to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • Incumbent is required to be able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain state certification, if required, for radar and breathalyzer operations.
  • Incumbent is required to works in an office and outside with possible exposure to inclement weather.
