About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W1E8AA USA INTELLIGENCE CTR OF EXCELLENCE. Administrative Support Assistant to the Commander, Deputy Commander or Executive Officer (XO), and Command Sergeant Major (CSM).

Duties

Serves as Bde Administrative Support Assistant to the Commander, Deputy Commander or Executive Officer (XO), and Command Sergeant Major (CSM). Performs all office management duties independently, to include functions that enhance administrative, communication, staffing, and organizational effectiveness. Provides advice and guidance to Command Group personnel and action officers on the full range of administrative support services and requirements. Coordinates all aspects of the brigade's civilian timekeeping. Serves as the Brigade's Primary Agency Program Coordinator (APC) for the Government Travel Card (GTC) Program, provides review of monthly reports, and the prompt identification and reporting on the misuse of cards and delinquent accounts. Serves as the alternate GTC APC for four battalions and inspects battalion programs for compliancy with applicable regulations. Advises the Command Group and staff members on the full range of administrative support services. Arranges meetings for the Commander, Deputy Commander, and Command Sergeant Major with Brigade personnel and external offices, to include managing conference room schedules, and preparing necessary conference material. Makes travel arrangements for the entire Command Group.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance based on a T3 ENTNAC/NAC/NACI/Background Investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify, applicants must have one year or more of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing all of the following functions: 1. Scheduling meetings and appointments using automated calendars to include rescheduling appointments by arranging mutually convenient times for appointments and notifying supervisor of pending appointments, meetings and commitments; 2. Reviewing outgoing correspondence for signature of the supervisor for proper format, conformance with procedural instructions, grammar, typographical accuracy, and necessary attachments; 3. coordinating organizational business travel arrangements and submission of requests for travel reimbursement; 4. Using standard office automation software to include word processing, database, email and web based applications in order to complete administrative support actions; and, 5. Providing guidance and assistance to timekeepers and/or civilian employees on documenting time and attendance in an automated timekeeping system. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the GG/GS-07 grade level in the series. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS/GG-07). OR Education: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Political Science/Government and Public Relations, etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
