This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VISN8, North Florida/South Georgia (NF/SG) Veterans Health System, Mental Health Service.
Duties

This position directly supports the administrative functions of the Mental Health Service program staff. Coordinates with the team by performing office support tasks, coordinating communication between Veterans, families and Veterans Affairs (VA) and community healthcare services as warranted
Collects data from multiple computer application database systems to provide information on consult management, resource utilization, quality of care and outcomes, which requires experience with fund control point management and budget reconciliation.
Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the Mental Health Service programs and other areas as assigned by Mental Health Service leadership.
Prepares, executes, and/or tracks program specific information, such as provider Consult status, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, congressional inquiries, grants, cooperative agreements, and/or service transfers made within the Mental Health Service.
Uses software applications to draw information, e.g., from the VistA/DSS/RCS computer database systems, and/or other data sources to prepare/assist in preparation of reports.
Performs work related to the acquisition and/or development of program information and resource materials/personnel to support the policy development and/or technical activities of the Mental Health Service and its programs. Performs library research functions, including file or database searches.
Researches various publications to extract, summarize, and compile information required to support the current data in the acquisition, development, and/or scheduling of program resource materials and personnel, such as hard copy and computer-based brochures and reports.
Maintains written records, reports, publications and establishes administrative controls in an accurate and complete manner.
Assures all office correspondence adheres to format, accuracy, grammar and spelling.
Performs other duties assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-6: Applicants must have one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: Answering and routing incoming telephone calls to appropriate staff; utilizing and maintaining various computerized databases and presenting data driven reports.
AND
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience stated above, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

Physical Requirements: This work involves some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of some light items. The work requires the incumbent to be able to move comfortably around the office and when necessary other locations. The work involves a considerable amount of time gathering and recording data.
The work is performed in an office setting with occasional travel to outside facilities for meetings, trainings, conferences, and networking. The incumbent must be able to operate a standard passenger motor vehicle. The incumbent observes normal safety precautions while working in an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated office.
